On murals and Roman sarcophagi she is portrayed in Roman clothes, such on a fresco from Herculaneum. “Medea” is one of the best known of the tragedies of Roman playwright Seneca the Younger, completed around 50 CE or possibly earlier. It tells the story of the revenge of the enchantress Medea on her faithless husband Jason .
